Hi Everyone,

Welcome and thanks for stopping by the Lakeside Blog, the personal website for Cheryl Bearden. Here you will find articles about life in North Central Florida plus technical articles about learning DotetNuke and integrating the Telerik controls with DNN.

I spend alot of time on Florida lakes with my husband, Scott and son, Ryan.  One of my favorite things to do is travel thru a canal connecting a large lake with a smaller lake so you will see lots of canal pictures. The canal was originally dredged out in the late 1800's to connect a railroad town with a then thriving citrus town.  A steamboat carrying people and citrus travelled back and forth down the canal connecting the two towns. The steamboat provided entertainment and served dinner so a trip down the canal on a weekend night was a popular event. The canal is much smaller today but the canal still connects the lakes.  The canal trip can still be made by boat, when the lake is up, or kayak or canoe during drier weather.  The beautiful overhanging trees, abundant wildlife, and vegetation, make the trip seem almost mystical.
